2015 Edward & Phyllis Reed Fellowship

The Edward & Phyllis Reed Fellowship for Copepod Research has been awarded to Nancy Fabiola Mercado-Salas in the amount of $9864.00

for the proposal entitled "Morphological and genetic divergences of copepods (Crustacea:Copepoda) from semi-terrestrial habitats; gradients of biodiversity in the tropical forest of Southeast Mexico." Dr. Mercado Salas did her Ph.D at El Colegio de la Frontera Sur in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico, on the taxonomy and morphology of mexican Eucyclops (Cyclopoida). In 2014 she was awarded a Postdoc fellowship from the CONACYT (Mexico) to continue her studies at the Senckenberg Institute in Germany, were she lives now. She is complementing her morphological skills with genetic methods.
